Exercise, or any sort of physical activity makes everything feel good. In this fabulous weather, being outdoors, and a little more active than normal, is a recipe for happiness. It’s very rare we come home from a walk, run or gym session and regret going. Even 15-20 minutes of exercise makes me feel like I’ve […]

I took a little break from classes recently. Basically taking my own advice of finding balance, listening to my body etc 🙂 One of the things I felt I needed a break from was physically doing yoga poses! During classes and working as a Physio I know I was taking myself to the edge of […]

Word of the week: Vinyasa.

Vinyasa yoga is simply movement between poses in yoga, typically accompanied by regulated breathing. It is a method of yoga in which vinyasa movements form a flowing sequence in coordination with the breath. We do it in every Performance Yoga class and I love it! Think of your Cobra, Dowward Dog and Plank combination. That’s Vinyasa Yoga!

Word of the Week: Hatha

Hatha Yoga is at the root of all yoga practices. It is the original form of Yoga which began 500 years BC. It is the type of Yoga we concentrate on in Performance Yoga with some Vinyasa blending our Asana/Postures together. Hatha yoga refers to a set of physical exercises (known as asanas or postures), […]

Word of the Week: Pranayama

Pranayama is the deep rhythmic breathing techniques that regulate Prana/Energy by uniting movement and the mind. We use the technique of Pranayama without even realising it at times. How many times have you told yourself to take a deep breath if you are under pressure? That’s you doing yoga or practicing Pranayama. Pranayama, or deep […]
