June ’24 Yoga Retreat at Dunmore House Hotel

Monday June 24th – Weds June 26th; following the summer solstice. What an ideal time of the year to take time out, absorb the long summer evenings and go gently on yourself.

I have been planning this nurturing 3 day/2 night event for some time. Building up daydreams of what the perfect time out might entail. Yoga, the sea, sleep, good honest food, walks and fresh air. Not too much to ask for right!?

Last Summer, I took off to West Cork, by myself to enjoy a couple of quiet days. I lucked out big time, the weather was calm, my bed was so comfortable and I was stopped in my tracks by the food and service where I was staying. Farm to fork caught my attention, ‘take a stroll though our gardens’ the friendly front of house lady recommended. Around the corner on the cliffs from the vegetable polytunnels, I spot an outdoor cliffside ceremony/yoga space. The wheels started turning. And also a purpose built ocean view clubhouse, perfect for classes in windy or rainy weather. I couldn’t get the idea of bringing like minded people to this amazing place and bringing the same calmness, tranquillity and rest to others.

Mon June 24th – Weds June 26th 2024.

Come with me the next time I go there. I will lead calming, grounding yoga sessions and guide you through deeply relaxing and restorative practices. The friendly and skilled staff at Dunmore House Hotel will take care of us and nourish us with delicious and healthy food, using the best of what their gardens have on offer.

The Monday evening practice will delve into Yin yoga, easing out tired and stiff joints after the drive and gradually moving towards deep relaxation as we linger in restorative poses, with the sounds of the ocean beside us. After a nourishing dinner, you’ll have a solid night’s sleep and hear the waves coming and going outside your window.

Our Tuesday yoga class focuses on waking the body up gently, lengthening and strengthening the muscles by working through a more energetic warming flow. As always in my classes, please only do as much as you feel like. If you’re tired, you don’t have to push. I will have options for all energies and experience levels. After class…a freshly prepared breakfast awaits.

After a leisurely breakfast, it’s time to sit back and chill out or take a short walk or a swim at one of the many beaches that surround Dunmore. We will meet before lunch and I’ll guide you though a short meditation just to give you a chance to come away from needing to ‘do’ anything and simply ‘be’ here. Smell the air. Slow down. It’s all about the food, so a light healthy lunch comes next.

The rest of day is for you to do what’s best for you. Bring a book. Maybe take a dip into the one of the many beaches nearby and/or a walk along the neighbouring Inchydoney beach. The quaint town of Clonakilty is few minutes drive away and worth an amble through the streets in the afternoon.

More yoga and food!?! Yes. We’ll meet again early evening for a slower class than the morning class. Do a little work before the 3 course dinner. This is a gentle class. Aiming to help us deeply rest and tap into our inbuilt, intuitive recovery system. You’ll be ready to eat and sleep deeply again.

Wednesday morning, we’ll yoga and eat and enjoy the chats before heading our own way after checkout. refreshed and ready to return to life.

The Retreat at Dunmore House Hotel is a nurturing time. Taking care of the mind and body through rest, food, yoga, the sea and the gift of 2 nights away to yourself. I hope what works well for me is good for you too. Come in your casual gear, stay in your casual gear. This is a low effort event. I love attending these events by myself. A great bunch of like minded people come together, often in the same frame of mind, needing a switch off. It’s also a gorgeous opportunity to spend a couple of days with a good friend.

I have no doubt but that this will book up quickly. It’s a boutique, family run hotel. Take a look below to see if it’s the right time for you to take some time out for yourself.
